In advertising, the products are
separated into three main categories: convenience, shopping and specialty.
Convenience goods are cheap items that are purchased frequently, such as milk
and eggs. Purchasing goods are high priced items for consumers to comparison
shop regularly, such as refrigerators and washing machines.
Specialty products are products that
are not purchased on a regular basis and consumers do extensive research before
purchasing these items. Specialty products are regularly expensive and unique
in nature, which means they are not easily replaced.
Wedding Dresses
Generally, a wedding is a unique event
of its kind and in the same way as is the dress. A wedding dress is considered
a specialty product that is regularly used on a single occasion and brides
spend months, if not years, identifying the perfect dress for her wedding day.
These dresses tend to be more expensive than other types of formal gowns and
also unique in nature, because they are not mass produced. Many are handmade,
with some machinery involved.
Diamonds
Because diamonds are not man made, but
are formed in nature, are creations truly unique in its kind. Many diamonds are
used as engagement rings or other jewelry, which is expensive. Before making a
diamond purchase, consumers regularly do a lot of research about what they
should be looking at a diamond as well as the observation of different diamonds
(loose and environments) to choose the one they want to buy.
Antiques
The antiquities consist of furniture,
household items, and jewelry collections. Antiques also tend to be rare and
unique items movements of its kind. Because antiques are items that are not
immediately available in the main store, antique buyers have to hunt or pick
items looking at stores that specialize in antiques to find what they want to
add to your collection. Some old articles are no longer available.
Automobiles
Vehicles are another specialty type of
good. A consumer can buy a car once every couple of years or a few times in a
lifetime. The vehicles have features that are unique only for the make and
model of the car, which separates easily, be replaced. For example, Lexus was
one of the only vehicles that had an auto parking until Ford introduced one of
their vehicles. However, the target market for Lexus and Ford are very
different, which is a vehicle which is not easy to replace regularly.
